Adaptability

    This week has been fortunately less demanding than others in my studies. With more time, I decided to work a little more in my business.

Business Reality

    Currently, I am working on a project to redesign a space in a school to make it more attractive for students. We have had to coordinate most of the process remotely. Implying that it took longer and it was a bit more expensive than planned, but it was contemplated in the budget. I feel blessed for all the people that have collaborated, and for the great team, working in the school to make this project a reality. Next week, my part of the project should be installed and ready to use. We are very fortunate to live in a time where technology makes it possible to work remotely and do most of the administrative paperwork online.

    My business partner and I reflected last week on all the things we have done, considering that neither of us can give full-time dedication. We have already sent three proposals, closed one deal, applied for government funds, and have two more projects in the making. This has motivated us to organize ourselves differently and finally start to work on the corporate image.

Another Reflection About Character    

    From this week's materials, I found valuable this "formula" about the characteristics of an entrepreneur:

Perseverance & Tenacity + Flexibility & Willingness to Learn

    Amar Bhide, the author of an article in Harvard Business Review, called "How Entrepreneurs Craft Strategies That Work", says that these are the attributes potential entrepreneurs need to become successful. Perseverance represents an attribute we have discussed in class, reading from many authors. This is key to endure, especially when things are not providing the anticipated results, or we are in a "plateau" where we do not see growth. Flexibility is a concept I associate with creativity but is equally related to how we adapt to certain situations. As an entrepreneur, this also applies to take advantage of given opportunities or external situations. Willingness to learn is what can give you an edge in always be on top of innovation and acquire the competencies needed to run a business and make better decisions over time. We must be willing to change our ways for others that could produce a better result.

    In my personal life, this implies having a clear vision of my destination with a willingness to make necessary adjustments.
